Day One

"Naomi, we'll eat wherever you want," my mom said.
A glance at my watch told me time was running short for my flight.
Guess what I wanted. "Yo quiero Tacobell!" (I want Tacobell).
Had you been present in the Tacobell on William Street on January 3rd, 10 minutes after six, you would have found in a booth near the front the Jackson family quickly eating their burritos. I was enjoying my last American meal with familiar faces in a familiar place.
Then it dawned on me on how Jesus could have felt before coming to Earth as a babe. I wonder what His last day in heaven was like as He took in the familiar faces, places, sounds, and sights. He was leaving a place where He was known, praised, and loved to place where He was unknown, misunderstood, unappreciated and killed. He did that for me. He did it for you. He did that for the people here in Thailand.
Jesus Christ, Lord of the Universe, left His limitless home to dwell as man in a finite body, and, further, desire to live in one of the most wretched places: the human heart.
Jesus wasn't thinking about what He was leaving behind; He was thinking about what He would gain.
